Crystal Palace Neil Warnock: 'I'd love Ashley Cole, but he's not coming'

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock reiterates that he would "love" to sign Ashley Cole, but insists that the left-back won't leave Roma for Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has insisted that Ashley Cole will not be leaving Roma for a stint at Selhurst Park, despite expressing his admiration for the left-back.

The former England international signed for the Serie A side in the summer after calling an end to an eight-year spell at Chelsea.

Recently, Warnock admitted that he would sign Cole in a heartbeat, but has ruled out the possibility of the 33-year-old joining Palace.

"I was asked a question, 'would I have Ashley Cole?' and the answer is yes I'd love him," Warnock told reporters. "Then you go and write your stories on the back of that and put whatever you want in it.

"The fact is he's not coming here and he's not going to leave Italy for a year. He's loving it in Italy, he walks around in the town without anyone recognising him. He's loving it. So, the answer is no. But I'd love him, yeah. So, write whatever you want out of that."

Cole has failed to make Roma's starting XI in their last four games in all competitions.
