Derby County have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Algeria national captain Madjid Bougherra.
The 31-year-old impressed at the World Cup in Brazil, where Algeria lost to Germany in extra time at the last-16 stage, and is available on a free transfer having left Qatari side Lekhwiya in May.
According to the Daily Star Sunday, Derby are ready to step up their interest in the centre-back, who has played in the UK with Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Rangers during his career.
Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Leicester City are also thought to be interested in a move.
