Half-Time Report: Doncaster Rovers lead at the Valley after play suspended

Doncaster Rovers lead 3-1 against Charlton Athletic, following a suspension in play due to the weather.

Play was suspended at the Valley this afternoon, with Doncaster Rovers 3-0 up against Charlton Athletic, before continuing in torrential rain.

The hosts did get a goal back after the restart to make it 3-1 at half time, with Doncaster reduced to ten men.

Doncaster could not have wished for a better start as Theo Robinson ran clear on the right and crossed for Paul Keegan, who was free at the back post, to head past the goalkeeper.

They doubled their lead fifteen minutes later, with Robinson involved again. The winger seemed to be offside but play was allowed to continue and he ran past a static defence to cross for Chris Brown to tap in.

Charlton began to come back into it after that, with Ross Turnbull expertly denying Callum Harriott, but ended up conceding again as Brown bundled in after a corner.

With the weather causing all sorts of problems, the referee then called the players off, much to the annoyance of Doncaster, and suspended the match.

Play was resumed 15 minutes later despite no real improvement in conditions and Charlton got themselves back in it through Simon Church, who seemed to be offside but tapped in nonetheless.

Doncaster then had the ball in the net once more, but this time the offside flag was raised to deny Brown a hat-trick.

The drama did not end there, with Keegan shown his second yellow card to reduce the away side to ten men just before the break.
