Preview: Ecuador vs. Spain

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's international friendly between Ecuador and Spain.

Spain will attempt to blood a number of their future generation when they face Ecuador in an international friendly on Wednesday.

National team boss Vicente del Bosque selected seven new faces when the squads were announced last week, with a number of players hoping to make an impact ahead of the World Cup next summer.

Spain currently occupy top spot in Group I in qualification for Brazil next summer, but they are far from comfortable with former world champions France just one point behind after five matches.

Ecuador are also looking good in their qualification group, however, with the South American nation currently occupying third position in the table, two points behind second-place Colombia and five points behind leaders Argentina with a game in hand.

They will be without Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia for the fixture, but Edison Mendez will hope to add to his 105 caps for his country. Jefferson Montero is also expected to start despite a recent niggle, while Felipe Caicedo should lead the attack alongside Joao Rojas.

Spain, meanwhile, are without the injured Cesc Fabregas, but Barcelona teammate Cristian Tello could come in for his first full international cap. Thiago and Javi Martinez are also pushing for starts in midfield, while Isco and Koke will also be hoping to feature for the European and world champions.

Recent form:

Ecuador: WWLLD
Spain: WWWDL

Possible lineups:

Ecuador: Banguera; Ayovi, Guagua, Erazo, Paredes; Mendez, Castillo, Noboa, Montero; Caicedo, Rojas

Spain: Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Albiol, Alba; Thiago, Martinez, Iniesta; Silva, Tello, Negredo

Sports Mole says: 1-3
