Spain ease past Ecuador

Goals from Alvaro Negredo and Santi Cazorla give Spain a 2-0 win over Ecuador this evening.

Spain have run out 2-0 winners over Ecuador at Estadio Monumental this evening.

Goals from Alvaro Negredo and Santi Cazorla were enough for the world and European champions as they eased past their South American opponents.

Spain nearly had the lead as early as the third minute when David Silva curled an effort against the post, as La Roja carved the Ecuadorians open with a typical flowing move.

New Manchester City signing Alvaro Negredo got La Roja off the mark after 25 minutes, when he slotted home from eight yards after Santi Cazorla squared into the striker's path.

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia came the closest to grabbing an equaliser on the hour mark when he headed a cross against the post with Victor Valdes beaten in the Spanish goal.

Two minutes later, Spain had doubled their lead when Cazorla played a one-two with Barcelona's Christian Tello before drilling past Maximo Banguera in the Ecuador goal.
