Preview: England vs. San Marino

Sports Mole previews England's second Euro 2016 qualifier against Group E minnows San Marino.

England face what should be their easiest task of Euro 2016 qualifying when minnows San Marino visit Wembley in the Three Lions' second Group E match on Thursday.

Roy Hodgson's side arguably had their toughest match in their opening qualifier when they had to travel to the ninth-best team in the world according to FIFA's rankings - Switzerland.

They passed the test with flying colours, winning 2-0 in Basel to somewhat make up for a disappointing showing at the World Cup in Brazil two months earlier.

Arsenal's Danny Welbeck scored both goals against the Swiss and he should again lead the line with Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge still out injured.

Hodgson is a little short of options at the back, with Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne in line to start at right-back after receiving his first international call-up.

Everton's John Stones started in that position against Switzerland, but he is now out of the squad after injuring his ankle ligaments late on against Manchester United on Sunday. Calum Chambers of Arsenal has replaced Stones in the squad and will be vying with Clyne for a start.

In midfield, Aston Villa's Fabian Delph made his first international start against Switzerland and could again be in the XI on Thursday.

He did, however, sit out training earlier today as a precaution but should be fit for selection in two days' time.

The last time San Marino didn't lose a competitive match was when they drew 1-1 with Latvia in a 2001 World Cup qualifier. They began their Group E campaign with a 2-0 defeat at home to Lithuania.

These two were also in the same group for 2014 World Cup qualifying, with England winning 5-0 at Wembley before hitting the minnows for eight on the road.
