The FA say that they will consider Wayne Rooney's three-match UEFA ban before making a decision on whether to appeal.

The Football Association have said that they "will give full consideration" to UEFA's decision to ban Wayne Rooney for three matches in next year's Euro 2012 tournament.

The revised ban means that the 25-year-old will miss all of England's group stage fixtures in Poland and the Ukraine.

The Manchester United striker picked up an initial one-match ban after his red card against Montenegro on Friday, October 7, but after an internal investigation, European football's governing body decided to add a further two games onto the suspension.

"Further to UEFA's decision to impose a three match suspension on Wayne Rooney following his sending off against Montenegro, The FA await the full reasons from the disciplinary committee, and will give full consideration to the decision internally, before deciding on any response to UEFA or making any further public comment," read a statement on the FA's official website.

Rooney is expected to feature for Manchester United when they travel to Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.
