Colombia boss Jose Pekerman has praised his players for their performances at the World Cup in the wake of their 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to England in the last 16.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, the former Argentina manager hailed his charges' attitude and mentality throughout the tournament.
"The World Cup has unravelled like this. Like every team here, we had the ambition to win it. We have made every possible effort to progress. It was highly intense, very competitive. Both sides have testified to the importance of this match," Pekerman said.
"We've been a brave squad, we've fought hard. We've never thrown in the towel when facing an opponent. We've had the right attitude and mindset."
Colombia held England to a 1-1 draw after normal time thanks to a stoppage-time header from Yerry Mina, but misses from Mateus Uribe and Carlos Bacca in the shootout proved their downfall.
