Romelu Lukaku has cast doubt over his Everton future by admitting that he would like to play for a "top club", just six months after becoming the Toffees' record signing.
The Belgian international was a £28m capture from Chelsea last summer, joining the Merseyside outfit on a permanent deal following an initial season-long loan spell.
Lukaku has managed to find 10 goals this term with Everton currently struggling in mid-table, and following the slender defeat at the hands of his former side in midweek he has dealt a further blow to Roberto Martinez.
"It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception," he told The Sun. "They know I'm a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.
"I don't have a secret ambition to rejoin - there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again."
Lukaku scored 16 goals on loan at Goodison Park last season.
