Roberto Martinez confirms Queens Park Rangers want Nikica Jelavic

Queens Park Rangers are interested in signing Nikica Jelavic, Roberto Martinez confirms.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that Queens Park Rangers have approached the club to ask about signing Nikica Jelavic.

The striker has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park this season and has also been linked with a move to West Ham United.

"They have asked but there is nothing concrete. We have had a few clubs ask about Nikica and Johnny Heitinga because I made it public. Teams have been really interested in two players of their experience and want to find out about the situation," Martinez is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

However, despite being willing to let Jelavic leave, the Toffees boss says that he will not sanction a deal without finding a replacement first, particularly with Arouna Kone still injured.

"That would be the case with Arouna injured. Niki will never go out on loan because it would leave us totally open and we cannot replace him in that respect," he added.

"I wouldn't let the squad be weakened just to satisfy an individual."

Everton play QPR in the FA Cup on Saturday.
