Everton's Steven Pienaar to return to Ajax at end of the season?

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar could return to Ajax in the summer, according to his agent.

The agent of Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has reportedly claimed that his client could leave Goodison Park to return to Ajax at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, who has been struggling with injury since April, returned to full fitness at the weekend when he featured in a 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge in the third round of the FA Cup.

Pienaar, who has been an Everton player since 2012, spent five years at the Dutch club before moving to German outfit Borussia Dortmund and then England, where he also played for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the official Twitter account for the South Africa national team, Pienaar's business manager Robert Moore has claimed that the midfielder could return to Ajax.

Pienaar, whose contract at Everton expires in the summer, scored 15 goals in 95 appearances for Ajax.
