Twente have failed to go to the top of the Eredivisie table in the Netherlands as they were held to a goalless draw by Feyenoord away from home.
The result leaves Steve McClaren's side a point behind leaders PSV Eindhoven in second place, while their rivals from Rotterdam stay fourth.
The home team dominated proceedings right from the start, with Graziano Pelle shooting narrowly wide from the right after being sent through by Anass Achahbar in the 10th minute.
Five minutes later Nikolay Mihaylov pulled off a good save as he kept out a shot from point-blank range.
Feyenoord continued to control the match at the Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam and pressed on looking to make the breakthrough in the first half.
Jean-Paul Boetius failed to retain his cool when he was set up by Jordy Clasie inside the Twente penalty box and shot wide, and then saw his ambitious attempt from outside the box fail to trouble Mihaylov just before the break.
The pattern continued in the second half, with Feyenoord goalkeeper Erwin Mulder making his first genuine save of the game only in the 66th minute.
However, Twente stepped up their game thereafter and went close just minutes later through Dusan Tadic.
Leroy Fer then took advantage of slow defending from Feyenoord to shoot from distance, but failed to keep his attempt on target.
Twente grew in confidence towards the final stages of the encounter, but eventually had to settle for a point.
