Aston Villa, Sunderland chase Pavel Pogrebnyak?

Fulham reportedly do not have first option on loan striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, who comes to the end of his Stuttgart contract in the summer.

Fulham could be forced to relinquish star signing Pavel Pogrebnyak in the summer as Aston Villa and Sunderland are reportedly keeping tabs on the striker.

The Russian frontman, who is on loan to the Cottagers from Stuttgart until the end of the season, is believed to be a top priority for manager Martin Jol, who is thought to be keen on keeping hold of the 28-year-old.

Reports have claimed that Fulham have not been given first option to buy Pogrebnyak, who comes to the end of his contract with Stuttgart in the summer.

"Fulham wanted to have the option to buy but the player didn't want it," Goal.com quotes a source as saying. "He believed he could do well and the question is whether he sees enough ambition.

"The deal is working brilliantly for Fulham and they are trying to ensure he sees his future at the club."

Aston Villa and Sunderland are believed to be the two Premier League outfits keen on clinching the free agent at the end of the season.
