Gateshead, Woking share points

Gateshead and Woking both miss good chances to record a victory in an entertaining goalless draw at the Gateshead International Stadium.

Woking missed the chance to move into the playoff places in the Conference as Gateshead secured a deserved point with a goalless draw at the Gateshead International Stadium.

Gateshead should have taken the lead in just the third minute, but Jon Shaw somehow managed to head wide of the post after being picked out by Phil Turnbull's inch-perfect cross.

The hosts were mostly restricted to speculative efforts for much of the first half, and they were lucky not to fall behind when Woking's Dean Morgan dragged a shot just wide from the edge of the box.

Shaw was once again guilty of wasting a great chance for Gateshead early in the second half when he peeled away from his marker to head Alex Rodman's delivery past the post.

Woking enjoyed an extended spell on top, but struggled to create clear chances as Chris Arthur and Jack Marriott both went close with efforts from outside the box.

Despite the game opening up in the closing stages, neither side were able to find their clinical edge late on as they settled for a point each.
