Sepp Blatter: 'World Cup was a 9.25 out of 10'

FIFA president Sepp Blatter declares the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which has been described by some critics as the best tournament in history, a '9.25 out of 10'.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has declared the 2014 World Cup a '9.25 out of 10' after examining research.

A tournament in which hosts Brazil were thrashed 7-1 by winners Germany and a record 171 goals were scored has been described as the best ever by some critics.

Blatter agrees and has hailed the standard of the competition, concluding that it was better than the 2010 World Cup, which he rated as a 9 out of 10.

"We were calculating using all the computers and Facebooks, and then out of 10 we came 9.25," Blatter told reporters. "Brazil has improved since South Africa."

A BBC Sport poll found that 39% of voters believe that this summer's World Cup was the best in history.
