Evening all! Week six in La Liga continues this evening as Granada welcome Valencia. It has been a solid, rather than spectacular start to the season for the home side, but Valencia have struggled in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five in all competitions, but that victory came last time out against Sevilla.

In terms of the recent meetings between the two sides, it does not make good reading for Granada. They have lost each of their last four matches with Valencia, including both fixtures last season. However, all four victories have been by the odd goal, which is demonstration of the type of match that should be expected this evening.

So there we have it. Still no Diego Mainz or Piti for the home side, but former Sevilla midfielder Diego Buonanotte continues in midfield, while there are also spots for Manuel Iturra and Recio. Valencia are without Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa through injury, with Victor Ruiz coming into the XI. Exciting youngster Fede also starts in an attacking lineup for the away side.

Granada opened their league campaign with a 2-1 win over Osasuna, before losing 1-0 to Real Madrid on their own patch. They gathered a point in a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo in the final match of the month, but did lose 1-0 to Espanyol in their last match in this stadium. As mentioned, they played out a goalless draw with Real Betis at the weekend.

They have conceded just four times in their first five matches this season, but have managed to find the back of the net on just three occasions. That is a reflection of their struggles last season, when they managed just 37 goals. However, their defensive performances allowed them to move clear of the relegation zone.

Valencia, meanwhile, have lost three and won two of their first five matches this season. They opened with victory over Malaga, before suffering three straight defeats to Espanyol, Barcelona and Real Betis. However, they returned to form with a 3-1 win over Sevilla at the weekend, a result that has eased some of the tension surrounding the club.

Reports had suggested that Valencia boss Miroslav Djukic’s position would be in doubt if they lost to Sevilla, but such claims have since been denied. It has not been the ideal start to their season, but another three points this evening would go a long way to quelling some of the negativity that has followed them in the early part of the season.

It was always going to be difficult following the loss of Roberto Soldado in the summer, but they have managed to find the back of the net on eight occasions in the league thus far – not incredibly impressive, but far from a crisis. Valencia were fairly impressive away from home in La Liga last season as they took 23 points from their 19 matches, losing just eight times in the process.

PREDICTION: Neither side has been in particularly impressive form in the early part of the season, but you just get the feeling that Sunday's win over Sevilla could be the start of something for Valencia. They have named an attacking lineup this evening and I think they will have enough to secure all three points. Let's hope for an entertaining fixture.

Not a full house inside the stadium this evening, but there is a strong atmosphere with both sets of supporters turning up in their numbers. Early involvement for the referee as Victor Ruiz dives into Iturra, but no action is taken. The importance of this result for both teams cannot be underestimated at this stage of the season.

Neither side has really settled into proceedings thus far with the referee more involved than he would like at this stage of the match. A half-chance arrives for the away side as Fede drives a low cross into the box, but Diakhate is on hand to make the clearance. Fede collects moments later, but he is penalised for handball in the penalty area.

Again it's good work from Fede as the Valencia winger combines with Pereira, who delivers a deep cross into the box, but Roberto is on hand to claim under pressure from Postiga. Guardado, who plays at left-back this evening, delivers a cross from the opposite corner, but once more Granada deal with the danger.

Granada just cannot keep hold of the possession at the moment with Valencia utterly in control. A half-chance arrives for Pabon as the former Real Betis striker collects a pass from Fuego before advancing into the box, but he just loses control at the vital moment. El-Arabi has a header down the other end moments later, but Diego Alves is on hand to collect with relative ease.

CHANCE! It's really bright work from Buonanotte, who starts and indeed ends the move with a powerful header from close range, but it just moves wide of the post. The Argentine is not known for his heading ability and it was shown there. Wonderful work in the build-up with Brahimi and Pereira both involved in the final third.

Good spell for the home side in the last few moments with their technicians starting to see more of the ball in the final third. Iturra looks for the through pass towards Buonanotte, who turns and strikes in one movement, but it was always moving wide of the post. Still goalless with 13 minutes on the clock, but plenty of attacking intent from both sides in this La Liga fixture.

Half-chance for Valencia this time as Pabon finds some space outside the box before attempting to curl one towards the bottom corner, but it just moved wide of the post. Fede causes problems down the left moments later after good work from Banega, but his cross is straight into the arms of Roberto. Still goalless with 15 minutes on the clock in Granada.

End-to-end football in the last couple of moments as Pereira collects a long pass from his goalkeeper before striking one from outside the box, but it was always moving high and wide of the crossbar. You just get the feeling that the first goal - if we indeed have one - could be vital in this type of match. Plenty of attacking personnel on display for both sides in this league contest.

It has certainly been an interesting tactical battle thus far with both sides allowing the other possession in forward areas, but closing the space on the edge of the box. The atmosphere has just quietened inside the stadium, which is a reflection of what we are seeing on the pitch. In truth, at the moment, both sides are certainly cancelling each other out.

Slightly untidy period of the match in the last couple of moments with the referee forced to intervene following a number of late challenges, with Javi Fuego entering the book for a late challenge on Iturra. Granada decide to play the resulting free kick short instead of deliver into the box, much to the frustration of their supporters. El-Arabi threatens at the nar post moments later, but Alves makes the save.

Opportunity for Valencia as Banega strikes a free kick from outside the box, but it was straight into the arms of Roberto. Valencia have a number of attacking personnel on the pitch this evening, but they have not utilised them thus far. Even 24 minutes of football with the scores still level in Granada.

Pabon continues to threaten for the away side as he comes off the left before attempting to curl one into the top corner, but it deflects behind for a corner. The resulting set piece is delivered towards Jonas, but Angulo is on hand to clear. Granada are down the other end with Brahimi moments later, but it breaks down with Recio.

Another half-chance for Brahimi as the Granada midfielder cuts inside Pereira before attempting to beat Alves at his near post, but it just moves wide of the post. Valencia are down the other end moments later with Pabon, but his cross is headed wide of the post by Jonas. Little over 15 minutes of the first period remaining.

CHANCE! Golden opportunity for the home side to open the scoring as Murillo meets a free kick from Recio, but he can only fire his header wide of the post. Valencia have a similar free kick down the other end moments later, but Banega delivers into the arms of Roberto. The match is certainly starting to open up.

The attempts on target continue to rise as Postiga collects possession outside the box before turning and curling an effort towards goal, but Roberto is on hand to make the save. That has been about as good as it has got for Valencia - plenty of half-chances, but without really threatening to open the scoring.

Buonanotte just needs to be careful here as he continues to argue with the referee following each Valencia challenge. The Argentine has already been booked for dissent and he is running the risk of a red card. The latest Granada free kick is delivered by Iturra, but Mathieu is up first in a crowded box. Unfortunately, the overall quality has been disappointing in the opening 43 minutes.

End-to-end period in the last few moments with both sides delivering dangerous crosses into the box, but both defences continue to repel the danger. The fourth official indicates that we will play an additional one minute at the end of the half. Neither side has really done enough to deserve to be leading at this stage of proceedings.

So there we have it. The referee brings the first period to an end with the two sides level at 0-0. Both have had their moments, but neither has had a clear opportunity thus far. If it were a boxing match, however, Granada would just about be winning on points. Let's hope for goals in the second period.

STATISTICS: Granada have just shaded the possession thus far with 53%, while they have had seven attempts - six of which have been off target - to Valencia's two. The referee has also been forced to issue four yellow cards in what has been a feisty first half.

BENCH WATCH: The home side have a number of attacking options on their bench in the shape of Ighalo and Coeff, while summer signing from Deportivo La Coruna Riki is also in reserve. Valencia, meanwhile, have the likes of Feghouli, Canales and Michel on the sidelines - players that can certainly make a difference.

Murillo takes matters into his own hands moments later as the Granada defender joins the attack before attempting to curl an effort past Alves, but the Brazilian watched it move wide of his post. Brahimi is on the attack moments later, but he just runs out of pitch under pressure from Pereira. Let's hope that this is a sign of what is to come.

Not too much invention from Valencia in the second period but they have threatened with a couple of efforts outside the box. Jonas is the latest to try his luck from some 30 yards, but his effort was always high and wide of the target. Postiga's aerially ability causes problems moments later, but he heads straight at Roberto from close range.

The referee has been forced into action in the last couple of moments to deal with a number of late challenges from both sides, which was the case in the latter stages of the first period. Still not too much in terms of opportunities with the majority of the football occurring in the middle of the park. Still goalless with 55 minutes on the clock in Granada.

Opportunity for the home side, easily the best of the second period, as Brahimi collects a pass from Recio before attempting to beat Alves at his near post, but the Brazilian is across to make the save. Granada threaten from the resulting corner, but Pereira's effort is high and wide of the crossbar.

Granada continue to enjoy the majority of the possession in the Valencia half and indeed outside the Valencia box, but they just cannot find that elusive pass in the final third. Meanwhile, the referee continues to take centre stage with the challenges arriving. For all the attacking players Valencia have on the park, they have rally struggled this evening.

Couple of dangerous moments for the away side with Iturra and Murillo both delivering crosses into the Valencia box, but their back four has been nice and compact this evening. It would not be a surprise to see both managers look to their bench in the next few moments with chances very much few and far between. A single goal could be enough to take all the points from this league contest.

Another free kick for Valencia is delivered into the Granada box, but Diakhate is first to meet the cross. Granada break immediately down the other end with Buonanotte, who finds Recio down the right, but once more it breaks down at the final moment. That has been the story of the opening 68 minutes of this match. It has not been the best spectacle there is no question about that.

Granada make their first change of the match and it is not a surprising one with former Deportivo La Coruna striker Riki entering the field for El-Arabi, who has struggled to influence proceedings this evening. Riki scored plenty of goals for Deportivo last season, but has struggled thus far. Feghouli will also soon join us for the away side.

Good spell for Valencia in the last couple of moments with Jonas and Postiga both having a couple of efforts from distance, but neither comes close to finding the back of the net. Bernat has an opportunity moments later, but his low drive is into the arms of the goalkeeper, before Buonanotte loses control inside the Valencia box down the other end.

Valencia do indeed make the expected change with Canales entering the field for Postiga, who has not really had the service this evening. Bernat is involved for the away side moments later as he curls an effort from outside the box, but Roberto manages to tip it over the crossbar. Valencia make their third and final change of the evening as Fede is replaced by Feghouli, who has just found himself out of the team in the early stages of the season. Just the one change for Granada at this point with Riki replacing El-Arabi. You just get the feeling that there will be opportunities as the legs start to tire in the latter stages.

The end-to-end period of the match continues with Valencia threatening from a low Guardado cross, but the Mexican cannot find a white shirt inside the box. The home side are down the other end with Recio moments later, who squeezes pass towards Pereira, but the Frenchman loses his footing at the vital moment. This match is crying out for a piece of quality in the final third.

Opportunity for Granada to force the issue as a low strike from Riki wins a corner, but once more Alves is on hand to punch clear. The Valencia stopper has been linked with the Barcelona goalkeeping possession in the last few weeks and it is easy to see why. He has been as good as anyone in the opening weeks of the La Liga season. Still we await the first goal with 82 minutes on the clock.

Valencia threaten moments later as Feghouli meets a cross from Jonas, but his header is just wide of the target. The majority of the supporters remain in the stadium with the hope that we will see one last piece of major action.

Good pressure from Valencia in the latter stages with Jonas and Bernat both coming close with efforts from distance, but neither can find the back of the net. The fourth official indicates that we will play an additional three minutes and we are indeed into the second of those. One-way traffic with the away side forcing numbers forward.

Oh my word! Valencia score in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Jonas is on hand to convert from close range after good work from Canales down the left. Valencia are on their way to their second successive win. Crisis over?!
