Leigh Griffiths doesn't want Wolverhampton Wanderers return

On-loan Hibernian striker Leigh Griffiths wants to stay at the club despite Wolves activating a clause in his contract to remain at the Molineux for another year.

On-loan Hibernian striker Leigh Griffiths has expressed his desire to stay in Scotland despite parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers choosing to extend his contract at the Molineux.

Griffiths has enjoyed a fine season at Hibs, scoring 28 goals and winning both the Scottish FWA and SPL Player of the Year awards, and he has a chance to add to that when his side take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup final on Sunday.

However, the 22-year-old looks set to return to managerless Wolves next season after the club activated a clause in his contract to keep him at the club for another year, and Griffiths admits that he would rather stay at Hibs.

"It's not 100% definite that I'll be going back to Wolves. I want to stay here. I love the club and I don't want to leave yet," said Griffiths.

"It's up to Hibs and Wolves to agree a fee. Wolves have taken up the option of another year on my contract and they want me to be a big part of their plans for promotion next season. But I don't want to leave Hibs. It's the fans that I have really taken to because I'm one of them. I've showed on the park how much they mean to me and how much the club means to me.

"I love the club too much to go but if Sunday's match is to be my last, then what a way to go out with a Scottish Cup final and hopefully a winner's medal."

Griffiths joined Wolves from Dundee in 2011 but has only made one senior appearance for the club.
