The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Everton, is currently a free agent following his release from Real Madrid earlier this month.
The Netherlands international was reportedly axed by Toffees manager David Moyes after repeatedly breaching club rules.

Drenthe moved to Real Madrid from Feyenoord in 2007.
