Former Scotland manager George Burley reveals that he intends to apply for the vacant Ipswich Town job.

Former Ipswich Town manager George Burley has revealed that he feels that he still has the "passion" to return to Portman Road.

The 56-year-old led Ipswich to the Premier League and helped them qualify for the UEFA Cup during his previous tenure, and the former Scotland boss has revealed that he is interested in a second spell with the Tractor Boys.

Burley told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I think I'm the most successful manager there in the last 30 years. The passion's still there. Naturally I'd be interested.

"My life's been around Ipswich all my football career since I was 15 years old. I'm moving back to Suffolk soon. When you've got it in your blood, it's something you don't forget."

Paul Jewell left the club by mutual consent earlier this week, with Ipswich currently bottom of the Championship table.
