Ipswich Town striker Frank Nouble believes that strong competition for places will help his side stay in the Championship this season.

Ipswich Town striker Frank Nouble has declared that a healthy competition for places will help his side win their battle against relegation.

Mick McCarthy's side have lost just one of their last seven Championship games but still sit just three points above the drop zone.

Nouble started his second game for the Tractor Boys on Easter Monday and believes that a variety of options in attack will keep Ipswich out of the bottom three.

He told the club's official website: "It's good to have competition in the squad. It keeps everybody on their toes, which can only be a good thing, and we have a wide range of strikers at the club, who are all different types of players.

"You've got me, Didsy [David McGoldrick], Murph [Daryl Murphy], Chops [Michael Chopra] and Macca [Aaron McLean]. A real blend of differing strikers and that variety is definitely needed.

"I'm sure every player will play their part during the last few weeks of the season and it's good to have fresh players available."

The 21-year-old is still searching for his first Ipswich goal after joining the club on a free transfer in January.
