Jonathan Williams earns Ipswich Town draw

Sheffield Wednesday draw 1-1 with Ipswich Town to end the Tractor Boys' four-match winning streak.

Ipswich Town fought back to earn a point against fellow Championship playoff contenders Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon.

Atdhe Nuhiu gave the Owls a fifth-minute lead after meeting Jacques Maghoma's inch-perfect cross with a near-post header that Dean Gerken couldn't keep out.

With 13 minutes played, Wednesday almost assumed full control of the game when Maghoma delivered for Chris Maguire, but his effort drifted the wrong side of the post.

Ipswich then came close to a first-half equaliser after David McGoldrick's shot was saved by Keiron Westwood before Luke Hyam and Daryl Murphy also squandered chances.

Mick McCarthy's men looked threatening after the restart, with Conor Sammon and Murphy again going close to a leveller.

The visitors' belligerence finally reaped an equaliser on 62 minutes when Jonathan Williams found the top left corner of Westwood's net.

Within moments of getting back on terms, Sammon found himself in space to shoot, but skied his subsequent effort.

Stevie May tried to give Wednesday a late winner, but was denied twice in the final minutes as the Yorkshire club remain just outside the Championship playoff places.
