Juventus announce the decision to part ways with head coach Thiago Motta and name his successor in a joint statement.

Juventus have confirmed the decision to sack head coach Thiago Motta.

After impressing guiding Bologna to the Champions League in 2023-24, Motta was identified as Juventus' chosen candidate to begin a new era.

However, despite being handed a three-year contract and Juventus putting together a long-standing unbeaten record earlier in the campaign, the Brazilian has been sacked after just 42 matches.

Rather remarkably, Motta has been removed from his position despite losing just three of his 29 Serie A games, with the issue being that 13 draws have also been posted.

Furthermore, Juventus were recently dumped out of the Champions League in the playoff stage by PSV Eindhoven, while they also lost 4-0 and 3-0 to Atalanta BC and Fiorentina respectively prior to the international break.

What have Juventus said?

A statement read: "Juventus FC announce that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as Men's First Team coach.

"The club would like to thank Thiago Motta and all of his staff for their professionalism and for the work they have carried out in recent months with passion and dedication. The club wish them the best of luck for the future."

All is not lost for Juventus this season as they still sit in fifth position in the Serie A table, just a point adrift of fourth spot.

As well as announcing the departure of Motta, Juventus have revealed that a familiar face is returning to Turin to take his place.

Tudor handed Juventus chance

Igor Tudor - who won two Serie A titles as a player with Juventus - has been appointed as the new head coach, less than a year after an 11-match reign at Lazio.

After six wins and just two defeats from 11 games, the former defender opted to resign from his post, but his reputation remains intact having also spent a year at Marseille in 2022-23.

As a player, Tudor made a total of 174 appearances for Juventus, contributing an impressive 21 goals and six assists, between 1998 and 2007.

Tudor's contract currently runs until the end of this season, but there is an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
