Juventus confirm Zlatan Ibrahimovic talks

Juventus director-general Beppe Marotta admits that the club have had preliminary talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Juventus director-general Beppe Marotta has revealed that the club have spoken to Paris Saint-Germain about a potential move for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The French side's sporting director Leonardo recently denied reports that a deal was being discussed after he was seen talking to Juve officials.

However, the Italian giants have now admitted that preliminary discussions did talk place, although they also said that a potential move is unlikely due to the Swedish international's wage demands.

"It is certain that Pavel Nedved and Leonardo talked about Ibra," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

"Ibra is a great player, but not the type we are looking for in terms of age and economic parameters.

"Without doubt he is a champion, but at this moment Italian clubs cannot sign players who earn such high wages. We appreciate him a great deal, who wouldn't like a player like him? However, it is not possible."

Ibrahimovic spent two years in Turin before leaving in 2006.
