The Los Angeles Galaxy have won the MLS Cup after beating the Houston Dynamo in the season finale.
In what could be his last game for the Galaxy and in North America, David Beckham linked up with Robbie Keane to set up a Landon Donovan goal in the 72nd minute.
"The atmosphere was fantastic tonight," man of the match Donovan said. "The stadium was electric.
"The actual goal doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I for the last month have been so determined to win, I didn't care who scored, I didn't care if it was an own-goal, I just wanted to win. Winning feels so good. The moment when the whistle blew is what I'll remember."
Donovan also revealed that Beckham played through the match with a torn hamstring, and praised his "warrior-like" teammate.
Beckham's future remains in doubt, with reports suggesting that a move to Paris Saint-Germain is most likely.
"At the moment, I'm going to enjoy tonight," Beckham said. "There's a lot of options but I'm a Galaxy player. I've been a Galaxy player for the last five years and I've been proud of that."
A record crowd of 30,281 attended the game at the Home Depot Center.
