Gameweek 14 in the Championship contained 33 goals and two red cards as Burnley's lead at the top was cut.
The Clarets' seven-game winning streak came to an end with a draw at Millwall, while Leicester and Queens Park Rangers secured victories to close within one and two points respectively.
At the bottom, Sheffield Wednesday won their first game of the season at the 13th attempt by thrashing Reading to move off the foot of the table and out of the bottom three.
Here, Sports Mole picks out its best XI as well as highlighting the biggest numpty and best goal.
Matt Gilks (Blackpool)
Forest had scored in each of their previous six matches but couldn't beat Gilks as Blackpool grabbed a last-gasp winner at the City Ground, extending their unbeaten run to seven games.
Kevin McNaughton (Bolton)
The 31-year-old extended his loan from Cardiff earlier in the week and proved that it was worth it with a solid display as Wanderers won away at Bournemouth.
Jean-Yves M'voto (Barnsley)
The Tykes' summer signing has often been criticised for his flamboyant displays at centre-back but he kept Ipswich's goal threat David McGoldrick quiet on Friday night, as the pair played out a draw in Suffolk.
Michael Morrison (Charlton)
The Addicks haven't conceded a goal in over seven hours of football and Morrison was a towering presence at the back as Charlton nicked a win at Birmingham.
Jeffrey Schlupp (Leicester)
Getting a chance at left-back in the absence of Paul Konchesky, Schlupp exposed Watford's 3-5-2 formation with his regular surges forward as the Foxes trounced the Hornets 3-0 on the road.
Michail Antonio (Wednesday)
Antonio started from the right of midfield as manager Dave Jones began with two strikers and it paid off against Reading, a former club of Antonio's. The explosive forward didn't celebrate his superb goal from outside the area that put the Owls 2-0 up.
Rodolph Austin (Leeds)
Jamaican midfielder Austin is Leeds's talisman in the middle and he laid on both goals for Ross McCormack as the Whites eased past now rockbottom Yeovil.
Jason Lowe (Blackburn)
Rovers academy graduate Lowe has been in the first team for a number of seasons now but had yet to score until his 76th-minute thunderbolt soared into the top corner to win the game for Blackburn against Boro.
Anthony Knockaert (Leicester)
Knockaert must have been worried about returning to Vicarage Road. The last time he and Leicester were there he missed a late penalty in last season's playoff semi-final that would have sent them to Wembley before Watford streaked down the other end and won the match in one of the all-time spectacular finishes to a match. On Saturday, he slightly made up for last season's heartbreak with a classy display that was capped by a goal.
Connor Wickham (Wednesday)
Wickham joined Wednesday for a second loan spell only on Friday but hit the ground running by scoring a vicious goal and playing a part in two others as Wednesday finally won.
Ross McCormack (Leeds)
The Scottish frontman showed his quality in front of goal with one lashed finish and one cool pass into the corner.
Numpty of the Week
Manuel Almunia: The former Arsenal keeper will feel that he was unlucky when his clearance smacked Chris Wood in the face and ricocheted into the net to set Watford on their way in Saturday's lunchtime kickoff. However, it was a poor kick and had he cleared it over the Kiwi, things might have been different at Vicarage Road.
Goal of the Week
Jake Forster-Caskey (Brighton) vs. Doncaster: The 19-year-old has broken into the Seagulls' first team this year and scored surely the goal of his career so far with a dipping 35-yard shot that set Brighton on their way to victory at Donny.
