Lewis Walters keen to make first-team impression at Leeds United

Leeds United teenager Lewis Walters wants to impress Neil Redfearn and earn his senior debut after making his comeback from a serious knee injury.

Teenage forward Lewis Walters has set his sights on breaking into the Leeds United first team after making his comeback from injury for the club's Under-21s.

The 19-year-old played his first full 90 minutes since suffering a serious knee injury last summer in the goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

He now wants to follow the likes of Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt and promote himself from academy youngster to first-team regular under Neil Redfearn.

"It gives me a massive boost to try and get into the team," Walters told the club website.

"I just need to get this fitness back, which I'm lacking a little bit, and then push on really.

"I'll hopefully get a few more Under-21s games under my belt, get me fitness in, and hopefully I can push on."

Walters is yet to make his senior debut, but was named on the substitutes' bench for two Championship matches last season.
