Hull City score two second-half goals to edge past Leeds City and keep their impressive home record intact.

Consistent Hull City pressure eventually saw them maintain a strong home record against Leeds United this afternoon.

Neil Warnock made five changes to his side following a Boxing Day drubbing by Nottingham Forest, leaving Luciano Becchio on the bench.

Hull had a pair of penalty shouts in the early going, with the referee waving away appeals from David Meyler and Sone Aluko.

Robert Koren then failed to take advantage of a defensive lapse from Alan Tate, blazing high and wide to waste a good opening.

Leeds passed the ball well and the new-look strikeforce of Ross McCormack and Davide Somma were both willing runners throughout the first half.

An entertaining 45 minutes drew to a close with Hull having a pair of good chances to break the deadlock.

First Abdoulaye Faye headed into sidenetting from close range before Robbie Brady shaved the post following a fine cross from Ahmed Elmohamady.

The final action of a frantic opening period saw McCormack booked for a late lunge on the bright Brady.

United's stubborn resistance was brought to an end by two quick second-half goals.

Cory Evans finished off a neat passing move to get the opener, drilling pass a helpless Paddy Kenny with an accurate finish.

Hull made the game safe three minutes later when Meyler powered home a header from close range.

Kenny kept the scoreline respectable late on, making a smart stop to keep out Stephen Quinn.

Leeds failed to respond in the closing stages to slip to defeat and continue a miserable run of festive fixtures.
