Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson insists that his side can still make the Championship playoffs.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has insisted that their promotion destiny is still in their own hands.

Pearson has witnessed the Foxes fail to win in eight matches in a run that has seen them fall outside of the playoff places, but the former Hull City boss believes that his side can still finish in a top-six spot.

The 49-year-old told reporters: "We've got a great opportunity to make the playoffs. We've got five games left and it is in our own hands.

"They are tough fixtures, yes. But all the games in this division are tough and they will be tough fixtures for everyone.

"It is an important part of the season and we've got five games in which to do enough ourselves, regardless of what anyone else thinks, or what any other side does. We've still got teams to play in and around us."

Leicester host Birmingham City on Friday, knowing that a victory will see them move up to fifth place ahead of Saturday's fixtures.
