Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy hit with further one-match ban

Jamie Vardy will miss Leicester City's vital Premier League clash with Manchester United after being handed an additional one-game ban.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been handed an additional one-match ban for verbally abusing referee Jonathan Moss during his side's 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

The England international was originally suspended for one game after being sent off against the Hammers, but the ban was extended following a personal hearing in front of a disciplinary commission on Monday.

Vardy, who had already accepted an improper conduct charge for his altercation with Moss, took his case to the panel in the hope of being spared an extended ban.

However, the commission rejected his plea and Vardy will now miss Leicester's vital trip to Manchester United this weekend.

The Football Association has also confirmed that the striker will be fined £10,000, while the club will be hit with a £20,000 fine after "failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion".

With closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur only managing a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening, the table-topping Foxes can clinch an unlikely Premier League crown at Old Trafford on Sunday.
