Levante leapfrogged opponents Sevilla into fifth place in La Liga with a 1-0 victory at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia this evening.
After a goalless opening 45 minutes, Victoriano Nano broke the deadlock 11 minutes after the restart by scoring from close range following a goalmouth scramble.
Emir Spahic had a good chance to draw the away side level five minutes from time, but he headed wide after a cross from striker Alvaro Negredo.
Sevilla will drop another place in the league should Malaga collect maximum points this weekend.
