Mohamed Salah does not fear coming up against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, despite the 18-point gap between the sides in the Premier League.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has insisted that his side have nothing to be afraid of when facing Manchester City in a Champions League double-header next month.

The Reds, five-time winners of the European Cup, take on their domestic rivals for a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Despite Liverpool's proud history on the continent, City head into the match as favourites due to their 16-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Salah is unfazed about the prospect of coming up against the champions-elect, though, having played in a part in his side's 4-3 win over the same opposition earlier this season.

"I don't believe that City have always been superior to other clubs this season in the Premier League - despite what everyone says. We have beaten them for a start," he told reporters after the 5-0 league win over Watford.

"The Champions League always depends on the draw, but we don't fear any rival, whoever they are. We're in the quarter-finals and have the same chances of winning as each of the other seven teams.

"There are many big clubs still in the competition but you have to remember Liverpool are a great club in Europe too. In these knockout ties, anything can happen."

Liverpool remain the only side to have beaten Man City in the Premier League this season with that narrow win in January.
