No ACL damage for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho

Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho has not suffered a season-ending ACL injury, but he could still face a prolonged spell on the sidelines as a result of the damage sustained.

Mamadou Sakho has given Liverpool a fitness boost of sorts after being told that he has not suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 25-year-old, who limped off the field during the first half of the Reds' 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, was initially feared to have picked up a potentially season-ending injury.

That is not the case, however, although Sakho is still expected to spend a prolonged spell on the sidelines due to some damage to the joint in his right knee.

A further scan is due to take place on Tuesday, with a full diagnosis likely to be provided by Liverpool as they determine how best to treat the problem.

Sakho was forced to pull of the France squad on Monday afternoon for their upcoming friendlies against Germany and England.
