Report: Christian Benteke to miss Aston Villa clash

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke will miss this weekend's fixture against his old club Aston Villa, according to reports.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke will reportedly miss the club's fixture against his former side Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Belgian picked up a hamstring injury in the Reds' 1-1 draw with Norwich at the weekend and had already been ruled out of tonight's League Cup match against Carlisle United.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the injury is not thought to be serious and the club are believed to be hopeful that the 24-year-old will be fit for the Merseyside derby against Everton on October 4.

Benteke has made six appearances for Liverpool since joining the club from Villa in the summer, scoring two goals.
