Brendan Rodgers: Jordon Ibe "outstanding" in training

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers confirms that Jordon Ibe is ready to return against Newcastle United after an "outstanding" week in training.

Brendan Rodgers has said that Jordon Ibe has been "outstanding" in training with Liverpool this week as he prepares to return from injury.

The teenage winger will be available for the team's visit to Newcastle United on Monday for the first time since limping out of the club's Europa League exit to Besiktas in February.

The manager said at his pre-match press conference: "Jordon Ibe will come back in. I have got to say, he has looked absolutely sensational in training.

"He has been out for a while but he has been out on the field for a couple of weeks now, doing his preparation work and he has joined in training.

"He has looked absolutely outstanding, he has got real natural fitness. He'll come into the squad for Monday night. Some of the others that have been out are still out."

Rodgers confirmed that Adam Lallana is still sidelined, while Mario Balotelli continues to battle an illness.
