Team News: Daniel Sturridge absent for Liverpool as Jordon Ibe returns against Newcastle United

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge misses Monday's Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Anfield after being ruled out through injury.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has made two changes to his side ahead of their Premier League clash against Newcastle United this evening.

Daniel Sturridge is not in the Reds squad, his place in the starting XI taken over by Jordon Ibe, who returns after six weeks out with injury.

Mamadou Sakho is also absent as he begins his recovery from a hamstring injury, Emre Can taking his place this evening at Anfield.

The Magpies, meanwhile, have made three changes, with Jonas Gutierrez, Sammy Ameobi and Yoan Gouffran all dropping to the substitutes' bench.

Mehdi Abeid, Vurnon Anita and Gabriel Obertan are drafted into John Carver's starting XI as his side bids to end a run of four defeats in a row.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Can, Lovren, Moreno, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Ibe, Coutinho, Sterling
Subs: Jones, Toure, Lambert, Manquillo, Borini, Brannagan, Markovic

Newcastle: Krul, Taylor, Janmaat, Williamson, Colback, Anita, Abeid, Sissoko, Cabella, Obertan, Perez
Subs: Elliot, Sterry, Gouffran, Gutierrez, Ameobi, Armstong, Riviere
