Manchester City's David Silva 'may miss League Cup final'

An ankle injury may prevent Manchester City's David Silva from featuring in the upcoming League Cup final, according to a report.

Manchester City playmaker David Silva may reportedly be forced to sit out the League Cup final against Liverpool later this month.

The Spaniard limped off during the closing stages of Saturday's 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Leicester City with a recurrence of an ankle complaint.

While City are unaware at present as to the severity of the injury, there is a fear among the club's medical team that Silva will be sidelined for a number of weeks, according to The Mirror.

If that is proven to be the case, the 30-year-old will almost certainly miss the showpiece match with the Merseysiders at Wembley on February 28.

Silva could also be absent for the FA Cup encounter away at Chelsea and the Champions League tie versus Dynamo Kiev.
