Charlie Adam hopes to impress Liverpool's new manager

Charlie Adam says that will be "geared up" come pre-season to try and make an impression on Liverpool's new manager.

Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has insisted that he will try hard to make an impression on the club's new manager.

The Premier League outfit are yet to announce Kenny Dalglish's successor following weeks of speculation, which has included links with Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez and Swansea City coach Brendan Rodgers.

The former Blackpool playmaker has claimed that he is even more determined to make his mark after missing the last two months of the season after picking up a knee injury.

"I was back working at Liverpool last week," the Daily Mail quotes Adam as saying. "I'll be all geared up and trying to impress the new manager.

"Whoever comes in will be a top manager who is used to working with top players. It's one of the best jobs in English football so it will be very attractive to a lot of people. We're one of the best clubs in the world and I feel extremely fortunate to be at Liverpool."

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Liverpool's hierarchy have been in contact with Louis van Gaal over becoming the club's new sporting director.
