Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge says that Edin Dzeko's feigned injury was 'laughable' during Manchester City's 2-2 draw with the Reds.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has revealed that spectators at the Etihad Stadium were "laughing" at Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko when he feigned injury against the Reds.

The 26-year-old raged at the linesman following Daniel Sturridge's goal for the away side during the eventual 2-2 draw after the referee decided to allow play to continue despite Daniel Agger's foul on Dzeko minutes beforehand.

"Edin Dzeko embarrassed himself against Liverpool," Aldridge wrote in the Liverpool Echo. "He feigned injury and ended up costing his team a goal. What Dzeko did after the goal was crazy.

"Any player with half a brain cell would have hobbled around and had a bit of treatment just to prove he was hurt. Instead Dzeko jumped to his feet and sprinted over to abuse the assistant. Everyone in the press box was laughing at him."

The draw dropped Man City nine points below Premier League leaders Manchester United.
