John Aldridge tells Liverpool to buy another striker

Liverpool need a proven striker who can score 20 goals per season, according to John Aldridge.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has claimed that the Reds still need to sign a proven striker this summer as they look to climb back into the top four.

The club announced a deal to sign Burnley forward Danny Ings yesterday, and although Aldridge thinks that he will do well, he believes that the club still needs to invest more money up front.

He told BBC Sport: "It's not happened for Mario Balotelli or Fabio Borini - Rickie Lambert is not getting any younger. They have been very conservative in their dealings and they still have a lot of money in the account ready to spend.

"You need a striker who guarantees 20 goals a season and they don't come cheap."

Liverpool scored just 52 Premier League goals last season.
