Joe Allen has revealed that he is determined to play a pivotal role in helping Liverpool achieve success this season having endured a "frustrating" two-month spell on the sidelines.
Brendan Rodgers's men sit just two points adrift of leaders Arsenal at the summit of the Premier League, as the Reds bounced back from defeat to the Gunners a fortnight ago by demolishing Fulham 4-0 last weekend.
The Wales international, who was a second-half substitute in the victory over the Cottagers, has seen his participation this season limited with a hamstring injury but, having successfully recovered, the 23-year-old is now keen on aiding the club's efforts to end a 24-year wait for the title.
Speaking to reporters, Allen said: "I'd be lying if I said it wasn't frustrating at times. I'm working hard and waiting patiently for my chance but Liverpool is a massive club and we are having a great season.
"The competition for places is really good and you want that at a top club and I have to work as hard as I can to get back into the fold.
"Hopefully with the momentum we are gaining now we can keep going and in an ideal world I would like to be a big part of that."
Allen, who arrived at Anfield for a fee in the region of £15m, has made 33 appearances for the club since joining from Swansea City last summer.
