Chris Coleman confesses that he is interested in offering Cardiff City's Ben Turner a call-up to the Wales national squad.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has admitted that he may offer Ben Turner an international call-up.

The Cardiff City centre-half was born in England but is eligible to play for Wales as it was the birthplace of his grandmother.

Turner has been applauded by many following his fine display in the Bluebirds' dramatic penalty defeat to Liverpool in the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

Coleman, who takes charge of Wales for the first time on Wednesday, has confessed he was one of those impressed by Turner's performance.

"He's progressing into the centre-half that I thought he would be - strong and domineering," said Coleman, who managed Turner during his time at Coventry City.

"I was interested to see how he went against Luis Suarez on Sunday, he's a very tricky customer. But he was outstanding, one of the best players on the pitch.

"Can he expect a phone call? Yes, he can."

Wales take on Costa Rica at the Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow night in a memorial match for e former boss Gary Speed, who died last November.
