Kevin Davies wants Brendan Rodgers to replace Roy Hodgson as England boss

Kevin Davies believes that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should replace Roy Hodgson as England boss.

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies believes that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be the "perfect" England boss once Roy Hodgson steps aside.

The Three Lions disappointed at the World Cup in Brazil in the summer by failing to progress past the group phase.

They returned to action last night at Wembley by seeing out a 1-0 victory over Norway in a friendly.

"Brendan Rodgers would be perfect for England," Davies told talkSPORT. "The way he man manages the players is brilliant, he always gets the best out of them.

"He probably wouldn't leave Liverpool at the moment but might do when Roy's contract is up, at the end of Euro 2016."

Rodgers guided Liverpool to second in the Premier League last season.
