FIFA clarifies Luis Suarez not allowed to train during four-month ban

FIFA clarifies that Luis Suarez will not be allowed to train with a team during his four-month ban, despite earlier claims.

FIFA has clarified confusion surrounding Luis Suarez by confirming that the Liverpool striker is not allowed to train during his four-month ban for biting.

The Uruguayan forward was issued with the lengthy ban, which includes nine international matches, after biting the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

While head of FIFA's disciplinary committee Claudio Sulser claimed yesterday that it would be "disproportionate" to stop Suarez from training, a spokeswoman for the world governing body has stated that training is included in the forward's ban from all football activity.

"As said at various occasions he is not allowed to participate in any football activity during the ban period and as such is also not allowed to train with the team during the ban," she told PA.

Widespread reports have claimed that Suarez is on the verge of a reported £80m move from Liverpool to Barcelona.
