Steven Gerrard: 'It'll be hard to adjust in Jamie Carragher's absence'

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits that he will have a hard time trying to adjust in the absence of Jamie Carragher.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he will have a hard time trying to adjust in the absence of Jamie Carragher.

The 35-year-old defender retired today after the Reds beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 in the Premier League.

The pair have played alongside each other for over 15 years, and Gerrard feels that it will be difficult to adapt to a team without his fellow scouser.

"It's going to be difficult for me because I sit next to him on the bus, he's the first person I look for in the dressing room," Gerrard told the club's official website.

"I'm quite close to Jamie both on and off the pitch. It will be strange, it will be tough at times but it happens to us all one day - it will be me in a few years calling it a day. We all just need to look back and enjoy the great memories he has given us."

"So it's a sad day but Jamie is walking back with a smile on his face. He has been a fantastic ambassador in playing for this club and it's going to be virtually impossible for the manager to replace him."

Carragher enjoyed a glittering career at Anfield, winning two FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League, UEFA Cup and two Super Cups.
