Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thanked the Liverpool fans after his 737th and final appearance for the club.

Carragher has now kept 200 clean sheets for the club after today's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.

In an address to the fans inside Anfield after the game, Carragher paid tribute to the supporters.

"I'd just like to say to say thanks to everyone here today and to everyone who has supported me since I made my debut here in 1997," said Carragher.

"I've had lots of great times and memories. That's down to Liverpool Football Club and especially the fans. We've had some great nights here where the fans have dragged us over the line.

"I'd like to say thanks to all the supporters here today. Thank you."

The number 23 almost scored what would have been only the fifth goal of his Liverpool career, but his 30-yard strike cannoned back of the post in front of the Kop.

On the strike, Carrager joked that he should have scored more goals in his Liverpool career.

"I'm just getting the hang of shooting in my final game, it's come a bit late," he said.

"I think I would have just walked straight off if that had gone in. It would have been nice to go out that way but it just didn't go in.

The scouse defender has made more appearances in Europe than any other Liverpool player with 150 continental games.
