Jordan Henderson: 'Liverpool need to be more clinical'

Jordan Henderson calls for the Liverpool side to become more clinical in the wake of their 1-0 defeat to Hull City.

Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson has accepted that the Reds need to adapt a more clinical approach to games after they were beaten 1-0 by Hull City on Tuesday evening.

Michael Dawson's header condemned the Reds to defeat at the KC Stadium, and the reverse sees their Champions League hopes all but over, with Brendan Rodgers's men now sitting seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.

The England midfielder told the club's official website: "It was very disappointing because we set high expectations and we expect to win coming here. We knew Hull would make it difficult.

"They're fighting for their lives down there and they did make it difficult. It was very similar to the West Brom game, where they were sitting in and making it hard to break through. Unfortunately, we couldn't break through. We had a couple of good chances to go ahead or get back in the game and we couldn't take them.

"We need to be better in that sense, but also we need to make sure we're not conceding sloppy goals as well. We're very disappointed with the goal."

Henderson signed a new deal with Liverpool last week.
