Jordan Ibe to use Raheem Sterling example

Liverpool youngster Jordan Ibe hopes to make a breakthrough at Anfield next season.

Liverpool youngster Jordan Ibe has said that he will use Raheem Sterling as an example as the winger attempts to make his breakthrough at Anfield.

Sterling proved to be one of Liverpool's star performers last season after breaking into the first-team set-up, while the winger also impressed for England at the World Cup.

Ibe, 18, believes that he can have a similar impact in the 2014-15 campaign.

"He's only a year older than me so I need to follow in his footsteps and watch all of the other attacking players," Ibe told the club's official website.

"He's done well and scored a lot of goals. He's working hard all the time in training and impressing the manager. Because he's young, players are helping him so hopefully they can do the same for me. For me personally, I'm trying to get into the first team and hopefully get minutes.

"I'll try to do well in pre-season first and see how it goes. I'm still quite young, I'm only 18 so I need to stay grounded, watch the senior players in my position, keep working hard and hopefully I can do well this season."

Ibe is expected to be given a chance to impress in Liverpool's pre-season fixtures.
