Jurgen Klopp: 'Taking charge of Liverpool is big honour'

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp describes taking over at Anfield as 'the biggest honour he can imagine'.

New manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is taking over Liverpool in "a good moment" after signing a three-year deal at Anfield.

Liverpool have acted swiftly to replace Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked as the club's boss on Sunday after an inconsistent start to the campaign, but Klopp does not believe that the side are in a difficult situation, describing the role as the "biggest honour".

The 48-year-old told reporters: "It is the biggest honour I can imagine to be here. For me, this is one of the biggest clubs in the world and this is an opportunity to try to help in a situation that is not as difficult as some would make it.

"It's not the perfect moment, but it is a good moment to come here and I feel really proud."

Klopp's first game in charge of the Merseyside giants will come against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on October 17.
