Raheem Sterling grateful for Steven Gerrard support

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling pays tribute to club captain Steven Gerrard, thanking him for his support and encouragement.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has claimed that he 'could not ask for a better captain' than Steven Gerrard.

The 19-year-old has become a regular fixture in the first-team at Anfield since the turn of the year, helping them mount a serious title challenge in the Premier League.

Sterling has now paid tribute to his skipper by thanking him for his encouragement and support.

"I couldn't ask for a better captain," the England international is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Before every game he is helping me in terms of what player I am up against.

"To have someone like that to encourage you is great."

Sterling has scored seven goals in 29 games for Liverpool so far this season.
