Raheem Sterling: 'I'm still adapting to central role at Liverpool'

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling reveals that he is still learning all the aspects of his new role as the club's central striker.

Raheem Sterling has admitted that he is still adapting to his new role as the central striker for Liverpool.

The England international was moved into the lone forward position in December, and has notched four goals in eight matches for the Reds, including the equaliser in their 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final.

Sterling has revealed that he is relishing the responsibility and is determined to improve in the position as he gains further experience.

He told reporters: "It is a role I am learning and adapting to, but that is something if you want to be a good player you have to adapt to different positions, and that is something I am keen on doing.

"When I get in front of goal sometimes I get a bit excited thinking I've done it all, but now I am keeping focused and trying to get my game to the next level and chip in with more goals and assists.

"I have personal targets but I don't want to share them in case I don't reach them, but I always set myself goals and standards I want to meet and that is no different this season."

Sterling has scored seven goals in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers's side this season.
